Eclipse Awards as expected

The National Thoroughbred Racing Association announced winners of the 2007 Eclipse Awards late Monday in Beverly Hills, Calif. Among the winners, determined by polls of the NTRA, Daily Racing Form and National Turf Writers Association, there were no surprises.

Horse of the Year: Curlin

Two-Year-Old Male: War Pass

Two-Year-Old Filly: Indian Blessing

Three-Year-Old Male: Curlin

Three-Year-Old Filly: Rags to Riches

Older Male: Lawyer Ron

Older Female: Ginger Punch

Jockey: Garrett Gomez

Apprentice Jockey: Joe Talamo

Hello. I remember Curlin well. Before his first race ever, I got the PP for Gulfstream that day just to practice some handicapping on md sp wt races. I believe it was Gulfstream. I was impressed with his fast workouts. I followed him from that day on. I never knew he would wind up winning horse of the year way back then though.

I had picked Hard Spun for the Kentucky Derby in 2007. I thought he could wire the race. I don't think Hard Spun was given enough credit, but I am glad they are going to still race Curlin in 2008.
