Safe? Maybe not; Maybe just fake

If the point of synthetic racing surfaces is safety, apparently the Pro-Ride surface over which the 25th Breeders' Cup will be run misses the point.

The Los Angeles Times reports:

Since the start of the current Santa Anita meeting, Sept. 24, there have been five fatal breakdowns -- four of them in morning training -- on the new synthetic surface. The most recent was trainer Kathy Walsh's mare, Awesome Express, who broke a hind leg Thursday morning.

A total fraud and waste of money. Pay some company big bucks for a useless product that the regulators force on the tracks. I wonder how much money the owners of these surfaces paid the California board to com eup with this nonsense.
